Any Idea why the faster runcore (this one) doesn't fit in the eee pc 901? Has anyone had any experience with it?

I have heard from a user today that it does work in the 901 - but it is not qualified to do so by the manufacturer. Apparently the reason they have not qualified it has something to do with the onboard SATA controller, however I am not sure.

Many thanks, yes it appears now that it does work. May need a BIOS upgrade though.

RunCore SATA MiniPCIe SSD Release

Time£º[2009-2-13] Hits:[533]

RunCore 2/12/2009 ¨C 16GB - 128GB Pro SATA Mini PCI-e Solid State Drive (SSD) for the Asus EEEPC (UMPC) line will increase the overall computer performance by 1000% depending on the application. These new drives work in the Asus 900, 900A, 901, and S101 with the newest BOIS releases.

Performance: our new SSD (As tested (64GB in 900a)) has a read/write speed of 125/90 MB/sec vs. the stock SD in the system at 22/12 MB/Sec.

Have to see it to believe it? Check out this great new review by JKKMobile.com:
http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2009/02/ssd-test-runcore-mini-pci-e-sata-ssd.html

This drive is the predecessor to our PATA Mini PCI-e Solid State Drive (SSD) for the Asus EEEPC (UMPC) line that increases the computers speed from 400-600%. Unlike the PATA model which can be easily installed by pretty much anyone our newest model is a little trickier and takes some general computer knowledge such as how to install an OS and update your computers BIOS. For those of you who are not sure about doing these tasks no worries, we will still be selling the PATA version.

This product is shipping and on sale now at www.MyDigitalDiscount.com. For a list of our worldwide resellers or if you have any questions please visit www.Runcore.com today.

In the future we hope that manufacturers will release powerful mobile devices such as UMPC¡¯s, PDA¡¯s, and cell phones embed with RunCore SSD to run advanced operating systems and applications. RunCore specializes in ground up product development for consumer, industrial, and military SSD applications.

With the latest BIOS update installed this issue has been resolved. Always recommended to use the offical ASUS EEE site for sourcing said update.
